Anniversary event to recognize community and business leaders committed to the greater good of Hawaii

HONOLULU – In the year since Greater Good Radio hit the airwaves on AM radio 1420, hosts Evan and Kari Leong have recorded interviews with 121 of Hawaii’s top business and community leaders, mentoring thousands of listeners with innovative ideas and business insights – free of charge. To celebrate a year of success, offer a preview of what is next for Greater Good Media and to honor the invaluable gift that each of the Greater Good Radio guests have contributed to the next generation of Hawaii’s business leaders, Greater Good Radio will hold an anniversary party at Pearl on Friday, September 29.

The evening will include a presentation by the City and County of Honolulu, proclaiming September 2006 the Greater Good Month. The proclamation marks the Mayor’s support of Greater Good Radio and the ways it has upheld community-minded business practices through new communication technologies.

The celebration will also offer a sneak peek at the upcoming Greater Good TV show which launches on KGMB 9 on January 6, 2007 at 4:30 p.m. leading into the 5 p.m. news. The show will air weekly on Saturdays and Sundays at 4:30 p.m.

Speakers at the Greater Good Radio anniversary party will include Rick Blangiardi, general manager of local CBS affiliate KGMB 9, who will announce the upcoming launch of Greater Good TV; and Clint Arnoldus, president of Central Pacific Bank. A silent auction will also be held to benefit a local branch of the nonprofit organization, Learning for Life.

Dedicated to the development of Hawaii’s next generation of business leaders, Greater Good Radio’s mantra of “Leaders Inspiring Leaders” has reached far beyond Hawaii. With listeners tuning in online and subscribing to their weekly podcasts, the Leongs have reached into 90 different countries with their message of community-centered business practice.

From Mitch D’Olier, Clint Arnoldus, Duane Kurisu, Walter Dods, Vicky Cayetano and Mayor Mufi Hannemann, the list of Greater Good Radio interviewees is made up of Hawaii’s most successful business leaders who have contributed in meaningful ways to the development of our local community. The interviews – which are archived on and are available free to the public any time – unite under the overarching philosophy that the committed community involvement of a business is as important to the success of a company as is financial profit.

“One idea can change the world,” said co-founder Evan Leong. “We started Greater Good Radio to get people talking on a large scale about the need for businesses to give back and get involved with the community. I’m convinced that Hawaii can be a model for the rest of the world, that we can set the standard for a new way of thinking about business success.”

Among the success stories that can be accessed online at are the testimonials of entrepreneurs, old and young, from Hawaii and throughout the world, who have made the Greater Good philosophy a part of their businesses successes.

Greater Good Media provides sound professional and personal advice to listeners in Hawaii and throughout the world. Greater Good Media broadcasts the knowledge and first-hand experiences of its interviewees—successful business people and entrepreneurs—as a tool to encourage social entrepreneurship. Through hour-long interviews, these well-respected business people share their secrets of success as well as how their community involvement was crucial to their success. Greater Good Media encourages community involvement by inspiring new leaders to take a socially conscious effort in the implementation of new initiatives and ventures.
